Match Preview | Barton Rovers v Kidlington

Edward Carter4 Nov 2024 - 17:12

Kidlington are looking to bounce back in action tomorrow night as we head to The Winton Haulage Stadium to face Barton Rovers.

After a winning end to October, Kidlington started November with a defeat to Real Bedford. The Pirates scored five in our first ever meeting as Powfil Raposo scored our only goal. Craig McKay will pick up his troops again as Kidlington are in mid-week action against Barton Rovers.

The Opposition

Jermaine Hall’s Barton Rovers currently sit just outside the play-off positions in the Southern League Division One Central, winning 7 games out of 13. The Rovers beat Flackwell Heath on the weekend, strengthening their position on climbing into the play-offs, as goals from Ryan Neufville, Taylor Rhiney and Jemale Olayinka took all three points at Wilks Park. Goals have come in plenty for Hall’s side with them scoring 26 league goals all season, however, they have conceded 25 goals. An impressive October, which only saw them lose in the league to Enfield on the 1st, saw the Bedfordshire side put themselves in the chasing pack with them and Thame United only 3/4 points away from the play-offs.

The Winton Haulage Stadium will be a tough place for Kidlington to go, however, with the victories over Kings Langley and Leighton Town they’ll head there with confidence that they can get a result.

Team News

Craig McKay nearly missed out on Powfil Raposo, who had a fitness test late on Saturday afternoon and was only fit for the bench. However, new signing Matt Gunn was fit for his debut as he played 90 minutes in Kidlington Green.

Last Time We Met Barton Rovers

Kidlington defeated The Rovers 4-1 at The Winton Haulage Stadium on 16th April last season as Ben Richards and a Conor Taylor brace was enough for all the points.
