WORDS BY SAM RATHBONE
Kidlington will look to build some decent form from now until the end of the season, recent performances from the Greens has showed that this group has got enough courage and determination to push their way out of the relegation securing yet another season of Step 4 Football. Results have been hard to come by this season for Kidlington, however, recently when they have needed to work hard, they’ve come out fighting and raring to go. Kidlington will need to do the same this weekend as the Greens are making the short trip to Aylesbury on Saturday, for yet another crucial game.
Last time out, Kidlington hosted Ware in OX5 with a point to prove, with performances thriving under re-appointed Aidan Hawtin, Kidlington must turn these outstanding efforts into results, if they want to rise above Northwood and avoid the dreaded drop. Ware arrived and it didn’t take long for the chances to fall for the Blues, just the lack of execution and Kidlington’s double injury forcing Michael Hopkins and Fraser Allen to be subbed off before the interval. Work to do for the Greens. 55 minutes into this clash, Ware took the lead before Kidlington’s “never say die” attitude kicked in, gave the greens all the momentum before Joey Aust’s 89th minute equaliser gave Kidlington a valuable point at Yarnton Road.
Aylesbury, sat 12th in the Southern League Central, will look to solidify their midtable status when they host Kidlington on Saturday. David Tuttle and his squad will be looking to bounce back after a miserable and gut-wrenching five-nil defeat to the hands of Flackwell Heath. No win in five for the Ducks, they’ll be looking to put matters right and end this depressing run and get their new addition, ex-Kidlington, Powfil Raposo performing against a team that Powfil knows best. Based on the Duck’s recent form, Kidlington will be looking to get a positive start off the blocks and bring home some crucial survival points for the Greens. So, Kidlington make the short trip to The GreenFleets Stadium located in Chesham, Buckinghamshire. The Duck’s home form has been inconsistent as the season has progressed, only picking up twenty points from 15 games (W6,D2,L6), infact they have picked up their most important and consistent wins away from the GreenFleet Stadium this season, they welcome Kidlington, a side who struggles to get started and concentrated when playing away from Yarnton Road, Aylesbury will want to put these factors right when they face Kidlington on Saturday.
Recent Form:
Kidlington:
Enfield 7-0 Kidlington – A game where Kidlington really struggled to keep the Es at bay and struggled to cope under the pressure.
Kidlington 0-3 Flackwell Heath – Kidlington held their ground until eventually three goals in the second half killed Kiddy’s momentum on the game.
Leverstock Green 1-2 Kidlington – The big six pointer at the foot of the table and Kidlington showed real grit and determination to bounce back from a goal down to win the game 2-1 and boost morale within the squad.
Leighton Town 2-1 Kidlington – Aidan Hawtin’s first game back for the Greens didn’t go as expected due to the two goals which gave Kidlington a mountain to climb, however Fraser Allen’s wonder strike couldn’t salvage the great effort at the end by Kidlington.
Kidlington 1-1 Ware – Joey Aust’s late equaliser earnt Kidlington a valuable point from a game where Kiddy struggled to turn home momentum into any real threat in the attacking thirst, good determination for Aidan Hawtin’s squad after going a goal down early into the second half.
